Welcome to my blog site. I’m Wes Riojas. Rio was the catchy nickname given to me years ago so, hence the title. As the site tag line states, my plan for this blog is to provide a daily posting of my animation studies from Animation Mentor and from my personal work. I want to hear from my readers, so please comment when you can. Thanks for stopping by.
Hello, i’m Andrea, an italian animator, from web i saw that you built a personal animation desk.
I’m began creating my personal desk, i bought all materials but now i have to buy the animator disc.
In the web there are a lot so i would like to have an advice about which i should buy…
there are many sites such as :
lightfoot.com
chromacolour.co.uk / .com
cartooncolour
toonbase
ecc…..
the price goes from 50 to 90 $ but i don’t know which are the differences from one to the other…
are there any animation discs better than the other?
thanks so much
i hope not to bother you!
Andrea
ADMIN – Hi Andrea,
I probably don’t have the best info about purchasing an animation disc. I bought mine on eBay actually. It’s usually much cheaper than buying new. Mine is an Alan Gordon disc and it’s wooden. The biggest thing I don’t like about it is that it sits 3/4 to 1 inch upraised from the desk, so my drawing hand is suspended off the desk. There are plexi-glass type disc available that lay much flatter against the desk. I’d recommend looking into the type of disc animation legend Eric Goldberg uses. He seems to use the type I’d be interested in upgrading to in the future.
I hope this helps!
